FAQ
While some of our yarns and spinning fibers may be superwash and are technically machine washable, we recommend all projects be hand washed in cool water with a gentle detergent to ensure longevity.
We recommend Kookaburra Wash Products as a great way to keep your finished projects clean.
Because we are hand dyers and dye our yarn and spinning fiber in small batches our finished products vary from batch to batch. This is part of the beauty of a hand made product.
We recommend any project that uses multiple skeins of yarn be worked in alternating rows from two skeins at a time to prevent any color pooling.
We do not dye in dye lots and cannot guarantee an exact match. Yarn from the same dye pot tends to be the closest matches. We recommend buying all the yarn you would need for a project at one time, and purchasing at least one extra skein in case your gauge is larger than expected.
If you need a large number of skeins to match (a minimum of 4 skeins), we recommend contacting us using our contact page to set up a custom order. Custom orders may take up to 8 weeks to fulfill.
If you would like a custom colorway created please contact us through the contact page so we can discuss minimum quantites, color matching and creation fees and licensing.
We are constantly exploring the world of color. Sometimes the results of our experiments are unpredictable. These serendipitous results are your gain. These rare colorways are limited to the stock on hand and cannot be reproduced.
We are constantly exploring new yarn and fiber collections. Sometimes these explorations end up in uncharted territory. These are products that we are testing and may become permanent collections in the future.

The simple answer is YES! When we go on the road we reduce the inventory online of what we are taking with us so that two people don't accidentally purchases the same skein of yarn or braid/bag of fiber. So, if we are showing and you see a product listed as "Sold Out" online that may mean that we have all of our on hand stock on the road with us. You can always contact us and we can let you know if it is really sold out, or you can check back a few days after the show and we should have the remainder of our on hand stock back up for sale.
We use acid dyes. We are constantly experimenting with colors from multiple dye manufacturers.
No, we use a fragrance free acid solution in our dying process.
We do not offer instruction at this time. We are investigating curricula in dying, spinning and other fiber related crafts.
We offer a number of options for international and domestic shipping. Please note we do not insure packages sent via first class international or domestic mail. If you are concerned about your item reaching you we suggest choosing another shipping option.
Orders of in-stock items typically ship within 1-3 business days of receipt of order. Special order items, on-demand dyed items, and third party drop-shipped items may have different turn-around times.
As of December 5, 2024 we have resumed shipments to the UK. We have found a third party service that will manage the requirements that used to be significantly onerous for a small US-based business like us.
As of December 5, 2024 we are suspending shipments to the EU and the EEA in advance of the upcoming implementation of the new GSPR regulations and it’s related changes to legal representation, product documentation, labelling, and other requirements. We apologize for this inconvenience. We may resume shipments to the EU and EEA in the future, but this will require the rules and requirements for small non-EU based businesses to be better clarified and less burdensome, or a third-party solution to become available.
As of December 5, 2024, due to the national strike by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), delivery to PO boxes and rural locations in Canada will be unavailable. If at check out you choose to have your package shipped via DHL eCommerce for an impacted destination, then the parcel will be held at a United States sorting facility until the Canada Post national strike ends. For more information, refer to Canada Post's page for negotiation updates. We apologize for this inconvenience.
